Each year more than 20,000 children die from hunger in Colombia, South America. Those lucky enough to survive face a world of limited options. All too often girls find themselves working in the sex trade while boys fall into the trap of organized crime. On Nativity Hill, on the edge of Medellin, Colombia, over one hundred children live in destitute circumstances suffering from unimaginable neglect and a devastating lack of food. Our goal is to provide these children with a safe and nurturing home and nutritional meals to help them break away from the seemingly endless cycle of poverty.
Seeds of Love is a mission group through Albion Church which has been working to help underprivileged and impoverished children in Colombia since 2006. We are headed to Colombia again in December 2008 to help establish an orphanage to aide approximately 150 children. We are very passionate about this mission and hope you will help be part of this positive change.
On Nativity Hill, on the edge of Medellin, Colombia, over one hundred children live in destitute circumstances suffering from unimaginable neglect and a devastating lack of food and basic hygiene. Our goal is to provide these children with a safe and nurturing home and nutritional meals to help them break away from the seemingly endless cycle of poverty.
In April 2008, Albion Church acquired 2.2 acres of land and buildings on Nativity Hill to house these children. Within three days of the purchase, we began to feed 75 children one nourishing meal each week. Our future goal is to provide basic hygiene and feed up to 150 children one nutritious meal a day, five days a week. With donations we receive, the kitchen will be equipped with appliances and tools needed to provide these meals.
By purchasing and raising livestock and by planting gardens, we will be able to increase the nutritional value of each meal as well as teach the children some valuable life skills. Eventually, our goal is to create a self-sustaining operation.
Additional goals for our Seeds of Love mission include building a facility to provide permanent homes for 30-50 orphaned & abandoned children; teach the gospel; provide vocational training, counseling and tutoring; and build a safe playground on site. Visit our
